Aulopiformes are an order of fish which have both primitive and advanced features. An example of a primitive characteristic is that they have rounded scales. Some have advanced characteristics such as highly refined eyes. Fish that belong in this order are incredibly diverse in body size and shape.
Atlantic Lizard-fish are found in the shallow areas of the seabed, most commonly around islands. They are usually immobile unless hunting prey, where they rapidly move to catch their meal. |
