Gonorynchiformes are an order of ray finned fish. These species, as compared to other fishes, have small mouths and no teeth. Similar to cypriniforms, gonorynchiformes are able to produce a special substance when attacked; this substance acts as an alarm signal to the surrounding fishes. They have a single dorsal fin, as well as ventral fins which are located either half-way or further down the body.
