Lampriformes are an order of ray finned fish. They don't necessarily have spines in their fins and have a unique type of protrusible upper jaw; this means that the fish is able to extend or withdraw its mouth whenever it wants. When fully protruded, the fish's mouth is enlarged and resembles a funnel-like shape.
Oarfish are large elongated lapriform fish that can be found in tropical oceans. They are rarely seen as commercial fishes; however, when caught, they are rarely alive.
