Ridgehead Fish
|
Stephanoberyciformes is an order of marine ray finned fishes. These species are very uncommon and only of little importance to commercial fishery - mainly because they are mostly deep-sea species. Stephanoberyciformes are between 5 inches to 10 inches and have a large head with bony ridges; this gives the fish a more fierce and armored appearance.
The ridgehead fish are also known as bigscale fish because of their large scales and ridges. As seen in the picture, their bony and large head makes them more aggressive looking. |
